It’s been over a year since I updated the Gluten-Free Makeup List. In that time, I’ve been busy dealing with personal life issues and health problems. But now that I’m well again, I’m back and ready to rumble!
In the past, when I say “huge update”, usually that means we got a TON more companies on the list. That’s not true this time. Sure, we’ve got a few. But what makes this update huge isn’t how many companies have been added: It’s the change in policy.
I’m now including companies free of gluten ingredients that may be processed with gluten.
Why such a huge shift?
Well, 2 years ago when I took a survey of you, my readers, about 60% of you told me you didn’t mind your makeup having potential cross-contamination.
And now, after a whirlwind of illness and then sudden crazy healing, I’m personally less topically sensitive to gluten too.
DON’T WORRY: The companies are carefully separated. We have 2 categories now:
- Strictly Gluten-Free
- Formulated without Gluten
“Strict” is the old list with a few new ones I’ve found that fit the same criteria.
“Formulated without” is the new category. Which includes companies like… Wait for it… tarte and Physicians Formula.
Yeeeeeeep.
Check out the new additions below!
Strictly Gluten-Free
You’re already familiar with this one! I published a review about them not too long ago. They just hadn’t been officially added to the list yet.
Cute, non-toxic, odorless nail polish for kids. It’s designed to peel off a few days after application, leaving kids nails clean and healthy. They’ve also recently released an adult line that is designed to stay on, which brings us to…
Piggy Paint’s adult line of nail polish. As non-toxic as the original, children’s counterpart, the colors are more sophisticated and the lasting power what you want out of your adult nail polish.
Formulated without Gluten
What some of you have been waiting for…
This is what I’ve been using of late. For those of you already familiar with it, you know it has a cult following. They’ve been fairly upfront about their gluten policies, for which I’ve always applauded them. The question was whether or not I felt comfortable promoting them. Now that I’ve figured out how to promote them without losing the integrity of the Strict criteria, I’m excited to tell you readers that tarte cosmetics is amazing. Review to come!
YEP. So many of you have asked me about them. The last time I checked, only the new formulas were gluten-free. However, now everything is theirs is formulated without gluten. Extremely cheap gluten-free makeup? Sign. Me. Up.
katherine cosmetics
A new company I have not tried. But their products are naturally formulated, as well as beautiful to look at. I’m particularly intrigued by their SPF20 sports foundation stick thing. It says it’s a sheer formulation, so like a BB cream. But it’s in stick form. And it great for sweating in. Sounds like a win to me!
W3ll People
OK, everything but the Bio Extreme Lip Gloss. They formulate it with a peptide that comes from wheat. Besides that, it’s fair game! Their natural, organic formulations are both beloved and available in stores.
There ‘ya have it! What do you think of the new categories? Any companies you would add?
